At the beginning couple reminders, always run Back Up before you install new
software, work with registry or do any other system tune-up activities. Also
remember that probably most effective way to improve your PC performance is by adding more RAM memory, and the best
way to do it is by visiting
Crucial.com.
The shortest and laziest way to improve your PC performance is to download
AVG,
Anti-Malware,
and
Advanced SystemCare Free.
Then run them in the order they appear here. They are literally one click
solutions, and running these three may make miracles, but for more thorough
tune-up follow the article.
1. Number one and most dangerous cause of computer slowing are Viruses
and Spyware. The best bet for free antivirus is
AVG, for Spyware removal try
SpyBot,
Anti-Malware or another
widely used Spyware removal tool -
Windows Defender. For more powerful and reliable system security solutions
visit our
Software Store.
2. Second step is to get
CCleaner.
You can do all major cleaning with this great utility.
-
Run it's built in Cleaner, it will remove all unnecessary files and
leftovers.
-
Go to Registry tab, and fix registry problems.
-
Go to Tools tab, and uninstall any unused software.
-
In Tools=>Startup tab delete or disable unwanted processes which starts
automatically every time your system restarts.
3. After general cleaning you will need to defragment your hard drive. Use
JKDefrag instead of Windows original
defragmenter, its a lot faster.
4. If performance is your priority and you are able to sacrifice fancy
graphics, it would be wise to adjust your system for best performance. To do that
go to Control Panel =>
System applet =>
Advanced tab =>
click on Settings button, and choose "Adjust for best performance"
radio button.
5. Speed-up Windows Loading. For this purpose use
TuneXP software tool. This
utility places your boot files in front of the disk. Install Program, Go to
Memory and File System and click on Ultra-Fast booting.
6. Clean Prefetch folder. There is likely
unused links, and Windows will recreate only necessary links very soon..
Go to Start menu, click Run.
Type "prefetch", click OK. Select all the icons and delete them.
